How should I store my salves and balms?
Always keep natural salves and balms in a cool, dry area (preferably the refrigerator in hotter months) to ensure its longevity. Keep away from direct sunlight.
Why are some products heat sensitive?
Temperature sensitivity is common and completely normal for products that are made without synthetic stabilizers and harmful chemicals. While this may mean that your Rose + Water balms and salves may soften or melt in hotter months, rest assured that the quality and healing properties of our products are not affected by melting.
Tips on avoiding a mess?
On hotter days, BEFORE opening the jars/tins, pop the product right side up in the refrigerator/freezer for a couple of hours to solidify in order to avoid any spilling.
Welp! My balm feels grainy, now what?
All products containing natural butters (typically shea, cocoa, kokum, mango butter…etc.) will likely go grainy if the balm is left to melt and harden back up again slowly due to a process known as crystallization. While inconvenient, it does not affect the effectiveness of your balm. Simply follow these steps:
in a heat resistant vessel, melt the product with slow/steady heat via double boiler method.
pour melted product back into its original jar.
with caution, pop it into the freezer for a couple of hours until it solidifies.
